Heavy reinforced concrete cutting — columns, beams, load-bearing walls — diamond wire saws

RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete) cutting is the most demanding form of concrete cutting — cutting through concrete that contains dense TMT rebar, mesh reinforcement, or post-tensioning tendons. Our hydraulic diamond wall saws, track-mounted floor saws, and diamond wire saw are capable of cutting through any RCC element encountered in Kerala construction — from beam and column modifications to entire load-bearing wall removal.

What is rcc cutting?

RCC cutting is diamond sawing through reinforced concrete — concrete with steel bar reinforcement. Standard concrete cutting equipment handles plain concrete. RCC cutting requires heavier hydraulic power heads, harder diamond segments, and more deliberate cutting speeds to overcome the tensile strength of embedded steel. Our team has the equipment and experience to handle heavy RCC sections including multi-layer rebar grids, post-tensioned slabs, and pre-stressed beams.

What is it used for?

  • Column shortening or removal for structural renovation
  • Beam modification or removal
  • Load-bearing RCC wall removal
  • Foundation and retaining wall cutting
  • Multi-storey slab removal
  • Bridge and infrastructure concrete cutting
  • Industrial RCC floor removal
  • Basement opening creation in RCC walls

Our process.

01

Structural Review

We always review structural drawings before RCC cutting. For any structural element, written clearance from the project engineer is required before we proceed.

02

Temporary Support

For load-bearing elements, temporary propping (acrow props, needle beams) is installed before cutting begins.

03

Diamond Cutting

Hydraulic wall saws, flat saws, or wire saws cut through the RCC element. Diamond segments handle both concrete and rebar without difficulty.

04

Controlled Removal

Cut sections are carefully supported and lowered to prevent sudden movement. Safe removal is as important as the cutting itself.

05

Inspection & Handover

Cut faces are inspected, exposed rebar ends are treated, and the area is handed over for the next structural stage.

Common questions.

Is RCC cutting safe for the rest of the structure?

Yes — when done correctly. Diamond sawing does not vibrate or impact the surrounding structure. The critical requirement is structural assessment: a structural engineer must confirm which elements can be cut, and temporary supports must be in place before cutting load-bearing elements.

Can you cut post-tensioned concrete?

Post-tensioning tendons must never be cut unless deliberately de-tensioned first. We use ground-penetrating radar (GPR) to locate tendons before cutting any slab suspected of being post-tensioned, and we will not proceed if tendons cross the cut path without engineer approval.

What is a diamond wire saw used for?

A diamond wire saw uses a continuous loop of diamond-impregnated wire driven at high speed. It is used for large irregular cuts, cutting in confined spaces where blades can't reach, and for thick sections beyond 600mm. We use wire saws for heavy RCC demolition and bridge/infrastructure cutting.
